CALL TO ORDER

President Harvey Burnett opened the hearing at 6:04 pm

INFORMATION/REPORTS & NEW BUSINESS

The Board presented Mrs. Donna Trigg with a gift for retirement and in recognition of 42 years of service to the Buchanan Community Schools.

Mr. Donahue updated the Board on our current hiring matters and vacancies. He also shared details of the two upcoming PD days for our teachers on August 28-29^th. He extended an invitation to Board members to attend the district opening day presentation and breakfast on Monday, August 27^th.

ADOPTION OF ELEMENTARY STUDENT HANDBOOKS

MOTION by J. DeVlaminck, SECONDED by K. Laesch, The Buchanan Board of Education adopts the Buchanan Community Schools Elementary Student Handbook for the 2018-19 school year as presented.

SUPERINTENDENT’S EVALUATION

MOTION BY Member K. Laesch, SECONDED BY Member R. Writer, The Buchanan Board of Education, accepts the recommendation as submitted by the Personnel Committee for the 2017-18 Superintendent’s evaluation.

QUESTIONS & COMMENTS FROM BOARD MEMBERS

Board Members discussed the Welcome Back agendas for August 27^th – August 29^th, 2018. The Superintendent and Board Members further discussed the current situation of difficulty in hiring personnel.

Mark Nixon discussed work being completed on the Gardner School House and offered information regarding the school’s farm.
