Important Transportation Information Regarding Updates Coming to Bus Routes

Buchanan Community Schools

October 16, 2020

Dear Buck Families and Community:

Like many other school districts in Michigan, Buchanan Community Schools faces the challenge of filling bus driver positions.  We currently have a shortage of bus drivers and are making necessary changes in our bussing schedules and routes.

To match our current staffing with our daily bus routes, we are in the process of combining routes while following our COVID-19 safety plans.  The Transportation Office will be sending notes home for stops that are being eliminated, as well as postcards with your students on new bus times and any changes in their routes.  Additional important information about these changes will be posted on our website.

We will begin the new routes on Monday, October 26, 2020.

Thank you for your understanding and patience through this adjustment.  We are sorry for the inconvenience this change may cause.  Buchanan Community Schools is exploring all options to meet the transportation needs for our district families and our school programs without resorting to more severe changes to the services we can offer.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Please complete the survey found here no later than Tuesday, October 20, 2020, 9:00pm.
  • Transport children to and from school if possible.
  • Refer any community members who have a CDL and are willing to drive a school bus.

Your help and patience are greatly needed and appreciated.  Please call (269) 695-8402 or email bucksbus@buchananschools.com with questions.

Sincerely,

Patricia Robinson

Superintendent
