BHS December Update

(Last Updated On: January 10, 2018)

This month… we packed in as many activities as we could!

Our BHS Band performed their annual winter concert for public viewing.  Mr. Hollandsworth and his students impressed the crowd with their talents and whimsy.  Thank you to all of our families, friends, staff and community members who made it through the snow to see a great concert. The week prior a select few of our 8th grade band members participated in the MSBOA District 6 Solo and Ensemble Festival.  Katelyn V earned a Division Two rating and took home a red medal.  Joy K, Haylee H, Allysa A, Morgan M, Garrett B, Nick M, Daniel L, Christin C, Xander L, McKenzie M, Shannon C, Mehkenna O and Ruya A all earned a Division One rating and took home a blue medal.  We are very proud of our Bucks and congratulate them all!

National Honor Society sponsored a RAM Food Drive between the Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball games.  It was also Christmas on the Court night for the HERD and everyone came dressed to impress and gave like Santa!

D. Mottl Realty Group visited our Personal Finance classes to discuss first time home buying. Mrs. Eichorst and Mr. Brinks have been doing a great job bringing presenters to our building to speak to our students to give “real world” advice and share our community members’ expertise.

Mr. Phillip and Mr. Curtis both were awarded a CTE grant.  Mr. Phillip will be purchasing another 3D printer for his class and Mr. Curtis will be purchasing an Interactive TV system.  Mrs. Hess was also awarded two Michigan Gateway Grants of $500 each to purchase fans for the high school as well as books and book covers.

BHS congratulates our new Miss Buchanan, Cora Schau.  We also congratulate her court, 1st runner up Natalie Thompson, and 2nd runner up and Miss Congeniality Madison Schau.  Thank you and great job to our Mr. Buchanan gentlemen, Chase Hanson and Jarick Starnes.

PSAT scores were released early in the month.  Students had the opportunity to see how they scored compared to last year and will be working on how to improve their scores before the spring testing.  We encourage our students to use Khan Academy for improvement in specific skills.

The Friday before break was a wonderfully crazy day at BHS.  With the amazing cooperation of all teachers, all staff, and students, we were able to create a memorable moment for our students as we came together as one to make our Herd’s BOTF (Battle of the Fans) video submission.  Everyone pulled together to make this a proud moment to be a Buck.  Look for the video when it’s released to see exactly what this large undertaking was all about.
