NEWS FROM PAK (PARENTS ASSOCIATION FOR KIDS)
PAK is off to a busy start for the school year. We have already held two meetings and have welcomed several new members! That has been great to see and we’d love to have more so if you weren’t there….sorry we missed you and please join us!
We are currently working on finalizing the fall fundraiser. We will be able to report numbers to the group at the November meeting. Thanks to all who participated and supported this fundraising event. As mentioned at the Open Houses our group supports many events and educational opportunities at BMS. A large portion of the money raised goes right back to the students through educational purchases and PAK sponsored events so each person’s participation level is very important. Plus….our vendor throws a pretty extreme party for all those who sell $50.00 or more! The kids have a great time and its one afternoon dedicated to them. Of course that’s cool!!
If you have a 6th grader hopefully by now you’ve seen the Welcome Bag given to them by PAK. That is just one of the special items we purchase for this group of students. It’s a nice way to welcome them to BMS and wish them luck with their junior high career. We hope they enjoy them.
Our group is currently working on the Holiday dance to be held on Friday, December 12th. The theme is Winter Wonderland. We need many helping hands so if you have time to assist in the creation of the picture prop; donate beverages or holiday snacks; chaperon the dance or just be on hand for set up – please contact us. Our email address is listed below or you can leave us a message at the school office.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. We are now meeting in room 7C right next to the office. We hope to see you there!
Please contact us with questions/concerns.

MR. PASTRICK’S ART CLUB IS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
At this time I would like to welcome all students back to the middle school. Any middle school student interested in joining the Art Club may still do so. Although some of last year’s members have moved on to high school we are still looking for new 6th grade students to join. Keep in mind that the Art Club meets after school and students must arrange their own rides homes. Just look for the sign outside the art room and beside the showcase in the hall for the next meeting. Weather permitting they are usually held every other Thursday. If students have any questions please feel free to stop in the art room and I will be more than happy to help. Mr. Pastrick
HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE NEXT ART CLUB MEETING!
Volunteers Needed At the Middle School
If you have been wondering if there is a way you could help out at the middle school, the answer is yes! There are different projects throughout the year that we can always use extra hands with, and this year Mrs. Mclaughlin is excited to announce our Mentor Program. We are seeking adults who are willing to commit to visiting with a student once a week. Your time may be spent having lunch, helping with an assignment, or possibly just offering a listening ear. Knowing how valuable time is, we want you to know that if you could spare a half hour to an hour each week, it could be time considered invaluable to a student. If you are interested in being a volunteer or becoming a mentor, please come to the middle school office to fill a volunteer release form as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please call the middle school at 695-8406. |

THE 2ND ANNUAL “COATS FOR KIDS” DRIVE HAS BEGUN
SPONSORED BY THE BRAIN BUSTER’S CLUB
Last year was a huge success and we hope to collect more coats this year—which means we need well over 100 gently used coats to distribute to needy kids in our area. It is getting time to dig out that winter gear, so if you put on last year’s coat and the sleeves are at your elbows instead of your wrist—donate it to the “Coats for Kids” project at our great school. Mr. Brohman will be collecting them and dropping them off at the drycleaners before they are handed out to kids who will be happy to get a new warm coat this winter! Thanks Brain Buster’s-great idea!!!
