Scholarship Information

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who served as AAA School Safety Patrol members in Michigan. Students must show documented proof of AAA MSP participation, good academic standing and a strong record of participation in the community and extra curricular activities. Completed applications must be submitted to the guidance office no later than March 27, 2009. One student will be nominated.

Each year beginning in 2002, the Michiana Two-Cylinder Club awards an annual scholarship of $1000 to a High School Senior living in the greater Michiana area.  Applicants must be pursuing an education in an agricultural related field, meet the criteria and follow all the instructions given on the application form.  Interested students can obtain an application in the guidance office.  The deadline for submission is March 31, 2009.

Eastern Michigan University offers a $1200 (renewable 4-consecutive years)scholarship to children and grandchildren of EMU alumni enrolling at EMU as freshmen, sophomores, or transfer students for the fall 2009 semester.  For more information contact your guidance office.  The deadline for application submission is March 6, 2009.  

The Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) is offering 36 scholarships, valued up to $3000 annually to high school seniors interested in pursuing an engineering degree at an accredited Michigan college or university.  Applications are available on-line at www.michiganspe.org or in the guidance office with a deadline of January 12, 2009.

Mrs. Janice Marie Scott was a victim of the attacks by terrorists on September 11, 2001.  As a result, the family members of Mrs. Scott created the Janice M Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund in October 2001 to honor her legacy.  six $2500 scholarships are available for the 2008/09 school year.  For criteria and complete information stop by the guidance office.  The deadline is March 31, 2009.

The McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship is available to all high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating their own business while in high school.  To qualify you must be on track for graduation in the Spring of 2009, attend a 4 year college within the 50 states, own and operate a genuine business, non-profits are eligible, have at least one paid employee, and complete the online application  ( www.mckelveyfoundation.org) by January 25, 2009.

The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program is available on-line from December 1, 2008 – February 10, 2009 at www.kfcscholars.org.  Seniors with a GPA of 2.75 or better can apply for this $20,000 scholarship.  This could mean up to $5,000 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Program is comprised of 4 individual scholarship programs including: RMHC/ASIA RMHC/AFRICAN AMERICAN FUTURE ACHIEVERS RMHC/HACER (Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources) RMHC/Scholars The Ronald McDonald House Charities is proud to be able to help students who dream of going to college, but may not have the finances necessary to realize this dream. Please got to their web site (www.rmhc.org) to download a copy of the application or link to the on-line application. Applications are also available in the high school guidance office. The deadline for submission is February 16, 2009.

The United Federal Credit Union will award three scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate community service and academic achievement.  One scholarship will be granted in the amount of $3000 and two scholarships will be grated in the amount of $1000 each.  You must be a member of UFCU for at least one year.  For more criteria and applications stop by the high school guidance office.  The deadline for submission is March 1, 2009.

The Junior League of South Bend offers a Volunteer Scholarship to support eh volunteer and leadership potential of young women in the community.  One scholarship in the amount of $500/year renewable for four years is awarded.  This scholarship is available to young women who are area high school seniors and demonstrate outstanding volunteer and leadership performance in the Michiana area.  Applications are available in the guidance office with a submission deadline of January 15, 2009.

The MEA (Michigan Education Association) 2009 scholarship applications are available in the high school guidance office.  Last year MEA awarded 33 scholarships totaling $43,000 to 20 Michigan public high school graduates and 13 returning college students.  This years number and amount is undetermined.  Only public high school students are eligible, and the recipients must attend a public state institution of higher education or the few private institutions listed on the application.  The application deadline is Friday, February 18, 2009.
