Josh Paquette provided presentation of CTE Program updates regarding Web & Design, IT, Auto, Culinary, CISCO, LMC – Sports Medicine & Cosmetology. Mr. Paquette showcased a new program – Dental Assisting at LMC. Also discussed were core performance skills, graduation rate, non-traditional completion and Michigan Merit Curriculum Credit requirements.

| SUPERINTENDENT /DEPARTMENT REPORTS
|
Superintendent, Dr. Andrea van der Laan, issued the book, Powerful Educator, to the Board as a gift from the Virtual Academy. Dr. van der Laan also provided documentation from the Mackinac Center for Public Policy displaying Buchanan Community Schools ranking #6 in the state of “High Schools increasing 40 or more points in CAP percentile ranking, 2012 vs. 2016”. Buchanan’s actual increase was over 55%. Buchanan Schools were ranked a B School.
